Modern Slavery Statement
Brixton Movers Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Brixton Movers has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. Brixton Movers is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Brixton Movers adopts a strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. We will not knowingly engage with, support, or benefit from any activity that involves forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, or any form of exploitation.
All employees, directors, contractors, and suppliers are expected to uphold this zero-tolerance policy. Any breach is treated as a serious misconduct issue and may lead to disciplinary action, termination of contract, or reporting to relevant authorities, where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Brixton Movers operates within the removals and relocation sector, providing moving, packing, storage, and related services. Our supply chains include providers of vehicles, fuel, packaging materials, equipment, facilities, and labour services, as well as professional advisors and maintenance providers.
We recognise that some aspects of our supply chain, such as temporary labour and sourcing of materials, may carry higher risks. We are committed to identifying, assessing, and mitigating these risks through robust due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and business partners to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. Our supplier standards require that:
Suppliers comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws in the jurisdictions where they operate. Workers are employed voluntarily, are free to leave their employment with reasonable notice, and are not subject to threats, coercion, or debt bondage. Wages are paid fairly and transparently, with no unlawful deductions or withholding of identity documents. Working conditions are safe, respectful, and free from harassment or abuse.
To support these expectations, Brixton Movers is implementing a risk-based programme of supplier due diligence and audits. This includes the collection and review of supplier policies, questionnaires on labour practices, and, where appropriate, on-site visits or remote assessments. Where concerns are identified, we will work with suppliers to raise standards within clear timeframes. Persistent or serious non-compliance may result in the termination of business relationships.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Brixton Movers encourages anyone who works for or with us, or who is affected by our operations, to report concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to our suppliers and partners.
Reports can be made to any line manager, senior manager, or through existing internal reporting processes. Individuals raising concerns are encouraged to provide as much detail as possible to enable proper investigation. We are committed to protecting those who speak up in good faith from retaliation or detrimental treatment, even if the concern is not ultimately substantiated.
All reports of suspected modern slavery will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and, where necessary, escalated to senior leadership. Where appropriate, matters may be referred to external authorities.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and key suppliers. This includes incorporating information on modern slavery and our zero-tolerance stance into induction materials, policies, and periodic training for relevant staff.
We seek to continuously improve our approach by monitoring emerging risks, reviewing good practice across our sector, and updating our policies and procedures accordingly.
Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing the effectiveness of this Modern Slavery Statement and related measures rests with the senior management of Brixton Movers. They ensure that adequate resources are allocated to support implementation and review.
This Statement will be reviewed at least annually and updated where necessary to reflect changes in our business operations, risk profile, or legal and regulatory requirements. As part of each annual review, we will assess the effectiveness of our controls, supplier audits, training, and reporting mechanisms and identify opportunities for improvement.
Brixton Movers remains fully committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms and to promoting ethical, transparent, and responsible business practices throughout our operations and supply chains.
